The Stool Color Cards are already successfully used in Japan, Argentina and Taiwan. According to a recent national study developed in Taiwan between 2002 and 2003 with the use of a card showing 7 different colors, the sensitivity of the Stool Color Card was 97.1% and its specificity 99.9%. The screening resulted in a significant decrease in the age of the child at the time of the Kasai operation. Since that time, the Stool Color Card has been used in Taiwan and Japan. In those countries, this simple, non-invasive and non expensive method was shown to be impressively applicable to mass screening, as well as an efficient way in early diagnosis and treatment of biliary atresia.

In Switzerland, a feasibility study conducted from 2009 – 2015, confirmed that the use of this Card is simple, effective, and inexpensive and can be used without causing the parents any apprehension or increased anxiety. For the most part, they are very satisfied to receive and use this Card.
